Be A Rock Star
Posted on December 30th, 2010 by Jean
How should I put this? Oh yeah. I’m a Rock Star! I racked my brain trying to decide on the perfect Christmas gift for my best friend. I was “this close” to sending her a bottle of red wine like last year, but none of the bottles spoke to me. I wanted something personal. Something that would knock her socks off.
The perfect gift ~ a hand-made Unofficial Glee(k) Calendar 2011. [1]

With help from Google Images and Shutterfly, I created a calendar a true Gleek, like my friend Joy, could love.
Shirtless Will Schuester graces January and August, so unfortunately Joy cannot display the calendar at work.

Her favorite month is July with scenes from The Rocky Horror Glee Show.
Her friends favor September with an Enquirer-like photo of Tina and Artie on vacation with “Ripped Old Man and Greasy Speedo Dude”.

The month of April reveals whether Coach Bieste is played by an actor or actress (spoiler alert!), and in December Joy and her husband can be cats like Rachel & Finn were in their 2010 calendar.

It’s not too late to be a Rock Star! Online calendar deals are popping up left & right. Personalize them with photos and details your friends will ooh and ahhh over. For ideas, here is Google Zeitgeist‘s Top Ten Most Popular People:
1. Justin Bieber
2. Lady Gaga
3. Kim Kardashian
4. Nicki Minaj
5. Miley Cyrus
6. Katy Perry
7. Lil Wayne
8. Taylor Swift
9. eminem
10. Megan Fox
Not into celebrities? How about Top Vacation Destinations. The Travel Channel lists 21 Mind Blowing Escapes, more than plenty to fill a 12-month calendar. Is your friend a Foodie? Feature photos of scrumptious dishes, desserts or cocktails. The possibilities are endless.

What photos would adorn your personalized calendar?

Very awesome and cool gift Jean. I’m not much a a Gleek myself, tried to get into it, but just couldn’t. Anyway, I still think you ARE A ROCK STAR!
I’m not sure what photos would adorn my calendar. Probably photos of Zak Bagans (shirtless) of Ghost Adventures! Now there’s a hottie!

Oh, right on, Galit! I’m so glad you are a Gleek, and can relate to how thrilled my girlfriend was to receive this gift. I ordered one for myself too ::: squeal! :::. You would totally appreciate the month featuring Sue Sylvester as Madonna, or the one with Glee students dressed like Lady Gaga. The hardest photo to find was Finn in the red Gaga dress.
Will toast you & all my friends tonight. Happy New Year!

My mom made everyone in our family a calendar out of pictures from a cruise all 17 of us took together this summer.
The Glee guys look better. I’ll trade one of my family calendars for one of yours!

The gifts that meant the most are the ones where you know smack of you.
Well thought out, with you in mind.

Oh wow, you are such a great friend! Damn, I’m jealous of your creative powers.
I love Glee, just love it, and would have LOVED this calendar myself.
As for my own calender, I’d honestly make one of my own favorite photographs. They just sit in albums, or, even worse, just in my camera.

Ummm….YUM! I want one of those calendars! 🙂
I just watched a segment on Ellen a couple of days ago where she had samples of funny calendars. One was something like “Hot Men with Animals.” Interestingly enough, one of my ex boyfriends was on the page that she showed on the set…with a small and adorable pooch by his side.
I can’t say I’d buy his calendar (my hubby might not approve, ha), but I sure would adorn my cabinet with a Will cal.
Bravo, Jean, bravo!

What a great calendar! I am a big fan of giving these as gifts for the holidays and was a bit disappointed I didn’t get any this year (though I put my gift cards to good use at Borders!). I made one for my parents with old black-and-whites I had found of them when they had first met and they were so touched.
I need to start watching Glee, everyone raves about it!

(I was going to buy some wine) but none of the bottles spoke to me. -Jean
The Law of Averages dictates that it had to happen eventually.
As for that Top 10 Most Popular People List, it’s kind of sad these things even exist. Sadder still is that Favourite/Most Admired People lists aren’t filled with entries like:
-My mother.
-My Father.
-My Grandparents.
-Some community leader.
-The guy down the block from me who ran into a burning building to save a homeless guy.
-The Doc who cured polio (and made the treatment free).
-Hitler (Kidding!)
Instead, they’re always made up of whoever the is most famous for whatever trivial, superficial, reason at any given second. Odd are, most of the names would be laughed at 15 (or less) years from now, if not already.
As for this list, I have NO idea who Nicki Minaj is, nor do I probably want to. Eminem aside (and he really shouldn’t be popular), nearly all are talentless, instantly replaceable, hacks who would be total nobodies without mountains of luck, a great agent & team of experts in their employ, and a myriad of sexual encounters in exchange for “X”. In fact, I would probably want a Silkwood shower after just coming within a stone’s throw of any one of them…and I actually have.
Mere months before coming famous, I got close enough to Justin Bieber that, if I were a teenage girl, my bladder and bowels would have already released. He was busking (more accurately warming up with his buddy) on a bench as literally hundreds of people walked right past him without even noticing he was there.
But I looked right at him and he looked back with a sheepish grin on his face. It was if his bowels were releasing in the presence of a real man, one that women claw each other’s eyes out to get at. So, perhaps he saw something he could mimic and this Bieber Fever nonsense is all my fault.
I’m sorry world.

Sedate Me, I was unfortunate enough to catch Nicki Minaj this afternoon on a show I will not admit watching. Previous to that, I too had no idea who or what she was.

I’m proud I didn’t know who she was and you should be too. It takes a lot of effort to avoid the constant hype barrage of marginal/no talent media creations these days.
Unfortunately, the lack of Niki Punjab knowledge doesn’t make up for the fact that I -more or less- knew who all the other nine were, if only by name. Although, I probably couldn’t name a single piece of work from at least half of them.
