Bedroom Make-Over Update

We Have Leaves!!!

What am I screaming about?

Well, about a month ago, I begged and pleaded for ideas to make over our bedroom. I was going to thank everyone individually, but there were so many of you that had awesome ideas and encouraged me to believe in myself! Thank you all!

Here is the *Before* picture:

I’m not done redecorating yet, but so far I’ve covered the quilt with a red duvet, bought spare pillows for the decorative shams, replaced the curtains with colorblock panels, painted the closet wall a darker color, and replaced the nightstand with a plant.

Detailing the leaves gave us a bit of trouble! My attempt was too thick.

Tom’s attempt was better, but shaky.

With Tom’s direction, I painted wispy veins. The leaves really came to life when our employee, Brenda, swooshed on low-lights with a complimentary shade of brown!

I was so excited when we finished today, I couldn’t wait to show you!

Thanks again for all of your help!

Thanks for reading!

Project Runway

Posted on August 31st, 2008 by Jean

I don’t watch a whole of t.v., but one show I’m sure to tivo is Project Runway. The object of the show is to take 16 aspiring designers, and challenge them to create clothing. Weekly, a contestant is deemed not worthy, and is eloquently booted by the lovely Heidi Klum.

I know I enjoy the show, but today my daughters demonstrated just how much they love it!

First, Natalie drew a design.

Then she ripped large chunks from her plastic Barbie tablecloth to fashion a dress. She sent her model (her sister, Pearl) to the *Hair & Make-up Salon* for lipstick, blush, and a futuristic up-do.

Here Pearl poses enthusiastically with a Project Runway model.

Professional model is wearing car parts.

Two of my favorite designs on the show have been…

Drag Queen Sailor

and the dress made entirely out of Plastic Blue Cups.

Gives a whole new meaning to *cup size*.

• Do you watch Project Runway?
• What is your *Must See* show?
• Would you wear a plastic cup?

My First Mammogram

Posted on August 18th, 2008 by Jean

Today I went for my first mammogram. I was very nervous, but it wasn’t as bad as I had imagined.

A few things surprised me.

1) I got pasties! Why didn’t anyone tell me there’d be pasties? White ones with a little stud on the tip.

Ready for my close-up.

2) The machine didn’t squeeze that hard! I’ve known men with a firmer grip.

Ow!

3) Not only are you x-rayed head on, but also at a 42 degree angle.

I’m a pancake. I’m a fin.

4) I got a rose at the end of the procedure!

That’s more than the tomato squeezers gave me!

Have you gone for your mammogram yet?
