Kid History Obsession
Posted on December 29th, 2013 by JeanI’m a little bit obsessed with Kid History. “Punching Cars” is my favorite episode.
If you’re like me, you’ll watch several episodes. Kid History videos are created when the Roberts brothers share a true story from their youth with children who then retell the story.
We have Randy Roberts to thank for these hilarious and wholesome videos. He elicites the help of his older brothers Brett, Dave & John, and his former roommate, Richard Sharrah, to create short films with mass appeal.
After watching these as a family, Tom and I both shared stories from our childhoods that we’d love to turn into “histories” with the help of our daughters. We’ll see if we’re actually up to the challenge. Tom’s story entails breaking his arm playing football, and then breaking his leg while skiing with his broken arm. My story unfolds as I convince my brother to lay down and let me jump over him while I wear my roller skates. Let’s just say I forget to jump, and my mother threatens to inflict the same pain on my body. Ya, we probably won’t be recreating those memories.
What childhood memory would you turn into a Kid History?

Jean, I can’t remember when or where I first saw this video clip, but I remember LOVING it! I watched again and LOVED it even more! I also clicked over on the link at the top of the video and saw that there are other videos by the Robert’s brothers, so I will be checking them out.
You’re right, these videos are both hilarious and wholesome!

Oooo, goodie! I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

HAHAHAHHAAHA HILARIOUS!
For me, a childhood memory that I would turn into a Kid History, would probably have something to do with younger brother, Tom. OMG…I used to do the most horrible things to him. In fact, I wrote about several of them on my blog, years ago.
And let’s just say, thank god he has a sense of humor!
Hope you had a super weekend, my friend!

Ron, I hope Tom will dress up as my Mom. He will be hideous and threatening (no offense to my mother – LOL!)
Gawd, I’d better go digging on your blog to find the stories of your Tom!
We had a nice relaxing weekend. Back to work tomorrow though.
An early Happy New Year’s wish to you!

Thanks, Angelia! I love it when the guy has to put himself in a headlock! I laugh so hard, I cry.
We keep talking about our skit, so hopefully we will actually DO it.

Brett Roberts often plays the wigged mother in Kid History videos. But in the Christmas episode he plays himself — a kid who really, really wants a BigTrak. Brett is the know-how behind the filming and even won a Disney animation contest as he was headed into the MTC more than 20 years ago.

Hi Weston – I knew Brett plays the Mom, and himself, but didn’t know he had won a Disney animation contest. That’s great! I really enjoy the Roberts brothers and their friend Richard.
