Wedding Highlights
Posted on May 17th, 2014 by JeanLast weekend we attended our friends’ wedding, and had a wonderful time. Our gift to the newlyweds was a 22″ x 28″ framed poster we created with photos taken for the cover of our magazine. We think the collage turned out great, and we hope they love it. Aren’t they a gorgeous couple?

I “Rented the Runway” again with a vibrant Rachel Roy dress to compliment my daughters’ outfits. Tom wore an equally vibrant blue dress shirt with pale khakis.

The wedding was held at a local Golf Club, a scenic venue (albeit a “tad” windy).ย The bride was escorted down the rose petal-strewn, grassy aisle by her father. The ceremony was brief (“I do.” “Me too.”), and soon we were following the wedding party to the clubhouse.

Mr. and Mrs. wasted no time getting to the dance floor for their first dance.ย We all cut the rug before the night was over, and I have to say our 11 year old daughter was a star working her Wii Fit 2 (her admission) dance moves.
I lightened the video since it was so dark in there. Here she dances with our friend, Mike. They are both superstars!
A buffet was presented with fruit, cheese, salad, chicken, potatoes, asparagus and bread rolls. When we returned to our table, the girls had plates of mac & cheese and fried chicken tenders waiting for them. So thoughtful! Everything was delicious.
The wedding couple cut their cake, and fed it tenderly to each other. No cake/face smashing. The white cake had a cherry filling and chewy fondant frosting.

The bride tossed her bouquet to a sparse crowd of 5 single ladies, while the groom flung his wife’s garter to a sea of single men and two small children. Not sure how to interpret that. The garter was caught by a classmate of our 11 year old which made the whole room erupt in laughter.
Champagne and sparkling cider were served in flutes, and we all enjoyed the tradition of toasts.
The girls were looking forward to attending this wedding as much as they had looked forward to Knott’s Berry Farm. All the pomp & circumstance were a secret they had yet to experience. I think it was everything they hoped it would be and then some!

What’s your favorite part of a wedding?

Okay, first of all the collage you made is faaaaaaaabulous, Jean! And you’re so right, what a gorgeous couple!
Second, I LOVE her wedding dress, it was stunning!
Third, you and Tom look so good together too! What a great couple you make. And I can tell, just from the energy in your photographs that you truly love one another.
Fourth, LOVE the wedding cake. And I’m glad to hear there was no cake/face smashing because I hate that.
Fifth, LOVED the video of your daughter dancing. Boy…can she MOVE. You GO, girl!
Thanks for sharing, my friend. Thoroughly enjoyed this post.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Thanks, Ron! It was Tom’s idea to have Alessia’s feet drape into the next photo. ๐ My gosh, I loved her dress too! Thank you – yes, we are so in love. Life is good. The cake, with its edible jewels, was beautiful and tasty. Thanks! Oh, can you imagine dancing with her? You BOTH have great dance moves!
Thanks for coming by. I always enjoy seeing you, Ron. Have a good Sunday!

Enjoyed this post, since we have a wedding in our future….my daughter in October! I love how classy the cakes look these days. What is next to the cake on the table?
Your daughter had impressive moves!
My fave is always the cake…….I had a very large cake for my wedding with pineapple buttercream filling. We saved the top and froze it for our first anniversary.

Hi Bijoux! Ohhhhh, you are going to have such a wonderful time at your daughter’s wedding!
Next to the cake are pink and white pearls made of chocolate. The gift boxes with pink flowers on top are filled with the pearls, and even the diamonds strewn across the table are edible. There were some inside the boxes too plus some silver edible hearts.
Wow, your cake sounded wonderful! I love pineapple! I love buttercream!

Hi Jean! You all looked fabulous. So did the Bride and Groom. Rent the Runway is a brilliant idea!
I love short weddings and long receptions. If I ever get married again, the wedding will be small, tropical, and completely different from any traditional wedding. Plus side is, I can make my own cake.
Obviously, the sugar diamonds on the table and cake had me intrigued! I’ve already researched how to make them, and I will be utilizing these at some point. My niece has a wedding coming up in August, so maybe I will make some and surprise her and she can use them how she wishes.
Loved watching the dancing video too. So happy your girls got to experience such a fun and exquisite event. You all looked like you had a great time.
Best wishes to the lovely Bride and Groom!

Sherri, that would be so cool if you made the sugar diamonds for your niece’s wedding! Let me know if you do.
I hope a tropical wedding is in your future! You will be a beautiful island-bride. ๐

What a beautiful couple ๐ And sounds like my kind of wedding. Simple, low-key, and meaningful. So glad to see your girls had such a great time and loved the dancing!!
Hmmm… I think my favorite part of the wedding is… open bar (though I hope that doesn’t make me sound like a lush), food, and then dancing. Probably in that order ๐
