Separated At Birth?

Posted on October 5th, 2010 by Jean

Is it just me, or do you think Marco Canora, contestant/chef on The Next Iron Chef looks an awful lot like Porn Star, Ron Jeremy?

Look, even when they were younger, they were practically twins.

The first challenge on The Next Iron Chef was to name one item you’d love to have on a deserted island, and then cook it. Marco’s one item was pork. I think Jeremy would like pork on a deserted island too, come to think of it.

For a while now, I’ve been downloading pictures of people who, although unrelated, look alike. Here’s what I’ve come up with so far.

Mad Men star, Elizabeth Moss and RuPaul’s Drag Races drag queen, Tammie Brown.

Fox News correspondent, Carl Cameron and Cinematic Legend, Stan Laurel.

• Can you think of any others?
• Have I lost my marbles?
• What one edible item would you take to a desert island?

  1. OMG Ron Jeremy. That’s awesome. I’m not sure what edible item I would take. Nothing tropical cause I have a feeling I’d be sick of that quickly. Probably enchiladas. Definitely something with dairy. Unless the island is inhabited by cows.

Mmmm, enchiladas on the island. That sounds GREAT!! A vast improvement over coconuts & speared fish.

  2. These are really funny! I think of these all the time but can’t come up with one right now. Will hit ya back if I come up with one.
Also, carne asada burrito with guac.(if you’re not from SoCal you may not know what that is, but trust me, it’s amazing).

Mmmm…. carne asada burrito with guac. That is IT. I’m having Mexican tonight, but not on a desert island.

I do that all the dang time! To the point it’s distracting during some conversations I’m trying to keep up with! I’ll think of some & come back!

  4. Carl Cameron and Stan Laurel!!!

The thing I can’t get over is that Ron Jeremy is a porn star…I’m looking at the pics and, well, eeeeeww.

Desert island food? Hmmmmm. Raisin bread. I have no idea why. I’m just really jonesing for some raisin bread right about now. :O)

Beth, you’ll never look at Carl Cameron the same way. LOL!
Ron… Jeremy… isn’t pretty, but Wikipedia says he has 9.75 inches of man meat.
Raisin bread sounds sort of good, but first I have to get the Ron visual out of my head.

Nine and 3/4? He ain’t got nothin’ on me!

What surprises me is that so many women know who Ron Jeremy is. Back in the day, my posse and I could talk about him right in public and not worry anybody would have any idea what we talking about. No longer.

Ron Jeremy is a household name. I’d have a difficult time naming any other male porn stars though.

  5. UGH! Ron Jeremy’s chest hair and manboob are not exactly the way I’d like to start my day. UGH! 😛

Pop, I just learned that 1 out of 4 men have man boobs. It’s an epidemic!

    Sedate Me Reply:

One in four? Is that it? No, that only represents the number of men willing to ADMIT they have boobs. The rest of us call them “pecs” and try to pass them off as muscle.

Given our super-sized culture and all the hormones in our environment, I’ll be surprised fewer than 3/4 of men (that aren’t beanpoles) have man boobies.

  8. My favourite magazine, the dearly departed Frank Magazine(R.I.P.)
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Magazine
was a Canadian political/social satire magazine. They used the “separated at birth” bit on a regular basis.

This will mean nothing to American readers, but my favourite example was long serving Canadian cabinet Minister John Manley and Beaker of The Muppets.
    http://cheezburger.com/cpt_lolcats/lolz/View/2053165824

Because everybody in Ottawa (aka Canada’s national capital) used to read Frank, word is that Manley got so sensitive about it, he actually had some surgery done to reduce the bulging eyes and look less like Beaker.

    [Reply]

    Jean Reply:

Whoa! Poor fella. Did he sound like Beaker too?!

    [Reply]

    Sedate Me Reply:

While he tended to carry himself off a little like Beaker on Quaaludes, his voice was much lower. However, after a minute or so of listening to him, his words started dissolving and he started sounding like a baritone version of Beaker.

His handlers were very conscious about keeping his hair in control and away from anything that would look like a lab coat. If I recall, Frank liked to use an outdoor photo where his hair was caught in a breeze and poofed up.

But don’t feel sorry for poor Beaker, he was in the running for PM (in his own mind) and landed on his feet after politics, nabbing various high-pay-low-effort corporate jobs and government commissions.

  9. Oh my! That’s hilarious about Marco!

I love it when people put that stuff together. I see people all the time that resemble celebs. I think we all have a twin or two somewhere. 😉

My one thing changes, but right now I’d take Little Debbie Oatmeal pies. 🙂

  11. Oh this is too funny. This is TMI but when I was in my 20’s (late 1980’s) I lived in Manhattan and me and my roommate couldn’t believe they had a 24 hour porn channel. Ron Jeremy was in so many commercials and stuff. We used to just sit there laughing and being so grossed out at the same time. Oh the memories…. blah!!

  13. I’ve had a case of meeting people in the last month that look and act exactly the same as the people I met back at home.

One person in particular could actually be that person – same age (down to the birthday) same face, same hairstyle and even the same character.

I’ve already called them by their doppelganger’s name 🙂

Enough that I did a post called “I’m Celine” or something like that.

Yeah, long in the face, that is me…
